[edit] Vince Lombardi
Political correctness? Not really... just plain ole correctness and Wikipedia rules. Look, if the information is true and factual, surely someone reliable has reported on it in a way you could cite. If they have not, Wikipedia is not the place for speculation and editorializing. If that's too "PC" for you, then I guess that's life. --SuperNova |T|C| 13:58, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
- "Such an idiot"? That's a new one. Anyway, I don't really care about the Packers a bit -- I actually don't particularly like them. (I go for the Falcons, myself.) But here's the thing -- Wikipedia isn't about keeping something in any kind of "light", favorable or not. It is about producing a quality encyclopedia and whatever biases you have against anybody don't belong. I try my best to keep mine out, and now I'm trying to keep yours out too. You're right, it's NOT about Lambeau Field. But I guarantee if Lambeau Field had been on a different street, it would be that street named for Lombardi, not the former Highland Avenue. I can similarly guarantee that if only WLUK were on a different street, that street would not be renamed for Lombardi. That's why one belongs and the other doesn't. I can't imagine mentioning WLUK's connection unless I worked for them or something. (And even then, it certainly wouldn't belong here.) Now, I don't particularly expect you to listen to reason and logic, given your past behavior, but I felt I needed to try anyway. I'm sorry if you think I'm an idiot or politically correct or whatever else, but I'm just trying to produce a quality, unbiased reference source. If you're not, I'm not sure why you're here. --SuperNova |T|C| 05:17, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WBAY
I'm sorry if you can't realize that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia many people work on together or if my edits strike you the wrong way, but that's what the edit button is for, so you can correct me if I'm in the wrong. I'm the first to admit that though I'm a fair expert on media in the Milwaukee/Green Bay markets, I'm not going to be correct on everything. Thank goodness for that, because I learn new things about stations through other user contributions that come after me. I always try to do research before I contribute anew to an article. Sometimes it's in the right, sometimes it's somewhat right but needs more clarification, I understand that going into an article.
As for your assertion that you won't edit because it might be erased for vanity, why don't you try it and see before you jump to that conclusion. Your edit to Vince Lombardi wasn't erased out of spite, but the information wasn't needed in the article...you learn from that and I learned from that when I began. If you're going to be a good contributor, you must learn to think in a NPOV manner as you write an article, and also at the same time, be civil to fellow contributors. We're all trying to do a good thing in creating this resource, and if you can't be kind and try to jump on someone just because you think their contribution was 'wrong', maybe you shouldn't post here.
Also, I don't need to 'get out more'. If this was GreenBayPedia, it would be OK to add every single person in Green Bay into an article. But as this is a global project, there are limits to who is a notable person in the eyes of a project such as Wikipedia, so a generic sentence like 'local celebrities and personalities' is just enough to give you an idea of who is important...and if you need to find out exactly who, just hit Google and look them up.
In the meantime I edited my talk page to combine your comment into one thread and also replaced your first comment as unsigned (you're not allowed to change it after the fact). Please know that I mean no harm to you, but please be kind and understand that my contributions aren't the final word on a subject, and I hope they never will be. I don't think of a contribution as a 'win' to one-up someone, it's giving somebody knowledge they'd like to have. Thank you. Nate 04:41, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
