Talk:David Edwards (singer)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Having had the privilege of knowing Dave between 1990 and 1994 I'm positive that Dave was actually an English teacher of secondary school children (in Llanfair Caereinion) rather than a Welsh language teacher.

I have had the pleasure of corresponding with Dave earlier this year. He is a gentleman and a scholar. He is well read and an incredibly creative, talented individual. Originality often meets with a lack of understanding or tolerance from what is considered the mainstream. His words were considered provocative simply because they addressed a great deal of truth around the hipocracy of modern culture seen mainly through the prism of Welsh society. Dave is highly original. His use of language cannot be appreciated through translations, due to his use of interlocking puns/assonance etc. This is why John Peel said 'I cannot think of a better reason to learn the Welsh language'.
