[edit] RE Proposal for Speedy Deletion

Criteria for notability

  • The person made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in their specific field.

David Coderre IS a widely recognized contributor for his specific field of Computer Aided Audit Tools/ACL. The field is a small emerging field in the audit profession. But that doesn't change the fact that he is a widely published author who is widely considered to be the authority in the field. This is indicated briefly in the original article which was not completed when the Speedy Deletion tag was added. He has published several books and numerous articles in reputable industry specific magazines.

Amazon Search for David Coderre

Please note that in addition to his own books, he has been cited in text book and text book. Other other authors have acknowledged him as an authority and here another citation.

  • Published authors, editors and photographers who received multiple independent reviews of or awards for their work

See above. David Coderre is a published author---and his works have been reviewed in NUMEROUS industry specific magazines. Because of his contributions to the field, he has been asked by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and the Canadian Association of Certified Fraud Examiners to present specialized training at their Annual Conferences. One is not asked by these entities unless they are a notable figure in the field.

  • Verifiability -- Can all information in the article be independently verified now? (some say) 10 years from now?

Easily. He is widely published. How about this article from 7 years ago. He wrote his book CAATTs and Other BEASTs in 1998. He has also had numerous articles published since at least 1999. Most importantly, he is the author of the GTAG on Continuous Monitoring published by the Institute of Internal Auditors. If one can verify activities from 7 years ago, one has to beleive that in 10 years one can further validate his authority.

  • Google Test -- Does a search for the subject produce a large number of distinguishable hits on Google or other well-known Internet search engine?

Numerous hits.

NOTE: The Title of this article needs to be fixed to David Coderre. The Speedy Deletion Tag was literally placed on this article so fast that I barely had time to save the article, refresh, and try to correct a formatting problem. Which implies that the person who placed the tag didn't check to see if this person was notable or not. The person who made this tag did so before I could go back and expand on the article!

I'll withdraw the speedy deletion nom as it seems sufficiently established that this guy might be notable. Please note you may wish to make future pages in a "sandbox" on your user page-when a new page shows up with little content and a single link to a self-written article, it's easy to believe the person mentioned is not too notable. If you would like some assistance setting this up please let me know on my talk page. Seraphimblade 05:18, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
There were actually numerous links, but I messed up the links section. But I will discuss with my wife, who is an admin, on how to use the sandbox. I was caught off guard when I literally paused and saw that this post had been marked for deletion before I completed the article.

[edit] CAATTS vs CAATS

CAATTS and CAATS are interchangeable terms. CAATTS is the older usage, while CAATS has become the dominant spelling. The use of CAATTS in the books title is not a mistake. David Coderre argues that CAATTS is the better acronym as it incorporates both "Tools" and "Techniques" which is often the problem with the acronym CAATs. See CAATS for more.

I'm not sure about the claim that CAATTS is the older usage.Balloonman 00:49, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

I agree - CAATS is the older usage; in fact, I think I was the first to use two Ts in CAATTs (Dave Coderre, Sept 2007)
