Talk:David Ciccone

Not notable enough, thus not encyclopedic. --Improv 22:32, 23 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. Verifiable, "notable" is not a listed deletion criterion, and as an article subject I really don't see why he wouldn't be "encyclopedic". Name needs fixing, though - David Gerard 23:24, 23 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. He's been a regular person on well known TV shows, regularly writes for at least one major PC magazine and a quick Google search turns up plenty of other hits indicating that he's a well known person in the field. Jamesday 23:45, 23 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Keep for reasons above Robert Pendray 23:46, Dec 23, 2004 (UTC)
- Keep, although I would suggest that the article needs quite a bit of cleanup, and needs moving too. Rje 00:22, 24 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- No vote - I moved the page to David Ciccone and touched it up a bit. ugen64 02:08, 24 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. As said, notability isn't grounds for deletion. Dan100 10:37, Dec 24, 2004 (UTC)
- In retrospect, I'll change my implied delete to an abstain. I wasn't sure, and asked the opinion of someone on IRC before I nominated. It's still unclear to me if he's really notable, but I'm no longer sure enough to maintain the delete. And, as a reply to David Gerard, something must be notable to be encyclopedic. That's part of what encyclopedic means, and while it's a judgement call on notability, we always are making judgement calls in how we run anything, and there's no shame in that. Sometimes, like here, one makes an error in judgement. There's nothing to do except to try to be more careful next time so as to exercise better judgement, which I will try to do. --Improv 16:17, 27 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- The only things I'm finding about this person are webjournals and blogs. The article itself certainly does not establish that he meets the recommended criteria for inclusion of biographies. He's a salesman. He runs his own website which reinforces his sales efforts. Jamesday's findings above leave me with the impression that he's a good salesman who's been interviewed a few times but I can't confirm that because I could not find evidence of any TV appearances. Delete as probable spam/vanity unless additional evidence can be provided that this person merits inclusion. Rossami (talk) 05:28, 28 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. We're making an encyclopedia for the ages. -- Walt Pohl 06:04, 28 Dec 2004 (UTC)

- Keep. He's notable enough: Nearly 5,000 Google hits, and the owner of a reasonably popular website, http://www.davesipaq.com/ Though, shouldn't the lower-case redirect be deleted? --LostLeviathan 22:00, 28 Dec 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Copyrighted biography
Someone posted a copy of the text from this site into this article last night, I'm just posting the link here if anyone wants to pull out the important stuff from there and expand upon the article, with your own words, that is.
