David John Wainwright (born 21 March 1985, Pontefract, Yorkshire) is a first class cricketer who plays for Yorkshire County Cricket Club. He is a left arm orthodox spin bowler who has also played for British Universities and Loughborough UCCE. He was educated at Hemsworth High School and Loughborough University and is now a full time cricketer.

Standing 5 ft 9 he flights the ball well and, up to the start of the 2007 season, had taken 22 wickets (for an average of 34 runs) in 10 first class matches. A left handed bat, 'Wainers' has scored 274 runs, with a best of 62, averaging 30.44.

He appeared for England as a substitute fielder during the second test match against the West Indies at Headingley in 2007.
