David Ren is a Chinese-American film director, writer and producer.

David Ren was born in Shanghai, China but grew up in Queens, New York City. He started to study acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse at the age of nine. And made his own DV movies. He attended the Bronx High School of Science, Professional Children's School, and the University of Redlands. He moved to Los Angeles in 2001 at the age of 16 to pursue a filmmaking career. He married Athena Hu in 2006, they have one child together.

He made his first screenplay in 2007, Shanghai Kiss, which he wrote and directed. The lead roles are held by famous actors Ken Leung, Kelly Hu and Hayden Panettiere. The film premiered at the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival.
Ren is working on his next film titled The Girl from the Naked Eye which are set to be released in 2008.[1]
