David King (b. 8 June 1970) is a drummer and composer active in Minneapolis, Minnesota since the 1990s. He is a founding member of Happy Apple and The Bad Plus, both of which are jazz trios, although neither play traditional styles. He works simultaneously in around a dozen other bands, many in the jazz, electronic, indie and rock genres.

  • According to his father, David King has had perfect pitch ever since he was young (circa 4-6 years old).[citation needed]
  • According to his father, David King has described himself as, "a musician who expresses himself through the drums." He has composed many songs in his bands.
