David John Burton (born 7 April 1963) is an insurance and Internet entrepreneur from Manchester, England. He is the founder of Blackfriars Group and CEO of Blackfriars Group Ltd, Blackfriars Insurance Brokers Ltd, and Prime Mover Underwriting Ltd.

Born in Urmston a suburb of Manchester, Burton was educated at Urmston County Primary School and at Urmston Grammar School. His mother Jean Lea and father Jack Burton were married in 1958, and Burton was the middle of three children. His older brother, Mark David is born on 5 May 1961). His younger sister, Karen Lynda, is born on 3 March 1967)

Leaving school at 17 with the full support of the teaching staff at school, he commenced employment with the Prudential Assurance Company Ltd (Prudential plc) where he was employed in various aspects of commercial insurance underwriting until his departure from the company in 1992, having earlier quaified as an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute. During this time, Burton learned to experiment with early personal computers, his first prized possession being a Tulip AT computer at a cost of some £2500.00, approximately 25% of his current annual salary with a full 20MB of hard drive space - and his interest in computers was born.

In 1992 Burton joined a small insurance broker (Blakfriars Insurance Brokers Ltd) in Sandbach, Cheshire. Blackfriars Insurance Brokers Ltd [1] is a general insurance firm, which was aligned with a larger financial services company, Blackfriars Financial Services Ltd at the time. In the mid 1990s, as the UK insurance market changed dramatically, Burton was engaged in a number of pioneering insurance schemes with mixed results. The first web sites for the Blackfriars Group organizations were posted in 1998, at the time an early entry into the world wide web.
In recent years, with the expansion of insurance services on the internet and the willingness of members of the public to transact their insurance business in this way, Burton has continued to innovate and expand new product ranges and moved into both Internet marketing and search engine and directory technology.
Having worked in the insurance market for some years as a broker, Burton will launch new underwriting faciities in 2008.

Burton is married to Christina Jane Rachel Burton (born 20 September 1970). They have three children, Victoria Anne (born 29 June 1989), Alexandra Jane (born 17 July 1992), and Amelia Rose (born 6 October 2000). They currently lives in Flixton.
