[edit] Technique
Hilliard’s panoramas are constructed with several panels ranging from as few as two and as many as six or more. The majority of his work however, has about three panels. The main difference between Hilliard and most other panoramic photographers is that each panel functions as its own composition that does not rely on the other panels in order to be a successful composition. Each panel is a different focal point and focal plane. This technique allows for Hilliard to guide the viewer through each photograph, directing their eye to what he wants them to focus on.
