[edit] Infomercial career
Del Dotto often shot his infomercials from locations in Hawaii with his students. As a self proclaimed expert, he would give advice on real estate investment. Some of his investment advice has been said to be wrong, and in some cases even illegal.[2]
[edit] Former Attendee =
I attended several of these so called expertise seminars. These seminars were generally filled with a roomfull of wannabees. Del Dotto sold data from a BBS system that was recyled HUD foreclosures. The data was stale and they basically told the crowd it was hot off the presses.
I saw a hundred people buy his computer systems that were complete with software that Del Dotto lifted a database packag from another company who also were friends of mine. Talk about copyright fraud as they changed the startup screen where Del Dotto Enterprises stated it their copy righted material.
If you want to learn about Real Estate get licensed and stay out of trouble as the TV is still full of great $3,000 programs that you can learn from other RE pros.
[edit] Legal trouble
In February of 1995 the Federal Trade Commission filed suit against Del Dotto. In 1996 Dave settled for $200,000 charges that he and his companies had made "allegedly deceptive claims" in marketing his books and audio tapes on real estate investment.[3]
[edit] Current career
Since 1993 Del Dotto has been producing wine at Del Dotto Vineyards in Napa, California.[4]
