[edit] Re: John Barrasso picture
The image is from http://legisweb.state.wy.us/2006/members/S27.htm, where he served as state senator. The U.S. Senate is borrowing the image until they can make their own, it would seem. It is most likely not PD, considering the stern copyright warnings on state of Wyoming websites. --Tom (talk - email) 11:17, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use image use
Please do not add fair use images in a decorative manner as you did with Image:Democratslogo.svg here and here. [edit] Alleged Vandalism
Thanks for your message. I've looked at the article, and the removal of the link by User:LiveLife isn't vandalism. S/he removed it because it was already linked in the references section. This is supported by the guidance given at WP:EL#References_and_citation which constitutes part of the Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style.
Regardless, this is a content dispute and the usual way we resolve these matters is by discussion. I suggest in future that you talk with this editor about any such disagreements, or open a discussion on the article talk page. Best wishes. --Cactus.man ✍ 17:05, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Notability of Mosleh Zamani
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Mosleh Zamani, by Agamemnon2 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Mosleh Zamani seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Mosleh Zamani, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 23:03, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Political positions of Christopher Dodd
A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Political positions of Christopher Dodd, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 20:42, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:CaseyRP.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:CaseyRP.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

[edit] Please use edit summaries
Hello. Please be courteous to other editors and use edit summaries when updating articles. The Mathbot tool shows your usage of edit summaries to be extremely low:
- Edit summary usage for Darth Kalwejt: 14% for major edits and 11% for minor edits. Based on the last 150 major and 96 minor edits in the article namespace.
Using edit summaries helps other editors quickly understand your edits, which is especially useful when you make changes to articles that are on others' watchlists. Thanks and happy editing! --Kralizec! (talk) 17:25, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Futurama presidential losers.JPG)
Thanks for uploading Image:Futurama presidential losers.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. [edit] Notification of speedy deletion tag
A tag has been placed on Category:Dan Quayle, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as articles for deletion. If you can indicate how Category:Dan Quayle is different from the previously posted material, or if you can indicate why this article should not be deleted, I advise you to place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article, and also put a note on Talk:Category:Dan Quayle saying why this article should stay. An admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 4 under General criteria. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please feel free to use deletion review, but do not continue to repost the article if it is deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. We welcome your help in trying to improve Wikipedia, and we request you to follow these instructions. Not sure whether you knew about the previous discussion, which was at Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2007_August_27#Category:Dan_Quayle, so here's the link. Thanks for uploading Image:RussellMCunningham.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. [edit] John Hazel
Hi,
came across the judge John R. Hazel article and wanted to let you know it's a bit garbled at the moment in the middle section. I think I can see what you were trying to say in the middle section (ie Roosevelt had gone climbing rather than sitting around in Buffalo), but I didn't want to just go in and maybe screw it up completely. [edit] Your recent edits
Hello. I have witnessed some of your recent edits to the pages George H.W. Bush and Dick Cheney. First off, please make adequate use edit summaries to tell other editors what your revision(s) accomplished. Secondly, the "acting president" clause was determined by myself and another editor to not be particularly notable (or favorable) to be placed in the infobox on those two articles. I removed it in Dick Cheney, then added it back because it really didn't hurt, and another editor removed it on both pages. The more I thought about it, the most the other editor was correct in removing it. It was for a mere day, and although it does deserve mention in the correct section and succession box at the bottom, the lead is too prominent to display such a short and minor event. Thanks, Happyme22 (talk) 23:56, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Andrzej Andrzejewski
Hi there, I ran across this article when reviewing Special:Newpages. I haven't marked the page as "patrolled" as I am somewhat uncertain how notable this individual is specifically; however, I suspect the incident in which he died would have far less difficulty meeting the notability threshhold. This is just a suggestion on my part, but perhaps an article on the crash itself, including much of the information you have already compiled here (and with the General's name as a redirect) might be of greater value at this point. Do you have any thoughts on this? Risker (talk) 04:16, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Flags
Thank you for your many fine contributions. I noticed you had added flags to several infoboxes of people. You may not be aware, but WP:MOSFLAG deprecates this use as it is redundant (adds no information) and may draw unneeded emphasis to the nationality of the subject. Best wishes to you, --John (talk) 02:40, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for adding infoboxes to politicians' articles. As a second remind please read Wikipedia:Manual of Style (flags) before adding any more flagicons into biographical infoboxes. In particular read Wikipedia:Manual of Style (flags)#Not for use in locations of birth and death. Aspects (talk) 17:28, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Electoral histories
Hello Darth Kalwejt, and thank you for your many contributions to Wikipedia. There are a few issues I would like to address, however, regarding some content you have added to many articles: electoral histories. I am largely opposed to them, because they do not offer much to the articles and draw each article out substantially, depending on how many elections he/she has been involved in. Furthermore, the proper citation usage is not enacted in any of them (see Wikipedia:Citation templates); it is very strenuous to go through every lone url link and convert it to the proper format. And they are all lists with absolutely no engaging prose.
While I am not opposed to the idea of presenting the percentage of votes for each of the candidates, it should be done in the text of the corresponding section in an article (thus eliminating the list), and does not need to include every single election the candidate was involved in; I was expecting to see "High School ASB" on the list! They should only include the major elections or a notable election, and every revision should include a citation in proper format.
Don't get me wrong - I am not chastising you. I value your many Wiki contributions and thank you for them. But I think these long lists of every election the candidate has participated in is utterly unnecessary. Thanks, Happyme22 (talk) 06:49, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- Sir, have you not read my above post? You just inserted the full electoral history to the George H. W. Bush article in a collapsable format (better), but without full citations in proper cite format, and the result of your revison has extended the article size about 8 KB. That's a huge number. Please respond to me so tht we can discuss how to proceed further with electoral histories. Thanks. Happyme22 (talk) 01:59, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
-
- Thanks for responding. I'm sorry if I came across harshly; I surely did not intend to. Yes, I think seperate electoral history articles are the way to go, such as the one you provided. I can start moving some of them to seperate articles, and would you like to do the same? Then we have to choose what format to use because consistency is good. There's the one in Electoral history of Eliot Spitzer in table format with colors, and there's the one in George H. W. Bush#Electoral history. I think the chart form would be best if we are to move them into seperate articles; what do you think? Happyme22 (talk) 22:05, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
-
-
- I created the Electoral history of George H. W. Bush page from all the information you had placed on the president's article (although I think that a table format like the one on Electoral history of Eliot Spitzer might be better). User:SnowFire said on my talk page that creating sub articles for presidents would be a good idea, but that we should hold off on Congressmen. Feel free to join in. [edit] Reagan electoral history
I'm just wondering, if you have some free time and happen to be bored, an electoral history of President Ronald Reagan is needed. I think you made one once, but I've looked through the article history and haven't found it. Anyway, if you do get around to making one, if you could please present it on my talk page that would be great. Thanks a lot, Happyme22 (talk) 05:42, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
PS - I think you might enjoy this. I was at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California, USA in July 2007 and I saw the President of Poland, Lech Kaczyński, present the Order of the White Eagle to first lady Nancy Reagan. I came about an arm's length away from shaking his hand in the crowd; it was a great day. I'm not sure how you feel about Pres. Kaczyński, but I thought that I might share that with you :) --Hap
- Excellent! I'm glad to hear that we are making progress. Indeed, President Kaczyński's idea to present the award to Reagan was a tabular one. Again, I'm sorry if I came across harshly when I first contacted you as I certainly didn't intend to; I value your many Wikipedia contributions and Electoral history "crusade" :) --Happyme22 (talk) 18:35, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Michale DiSalle.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Michale DiSalle.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
