I have been a fan of Mr. Skanson's music since 1999 and have been following his contributions to the classical guitar community since then. Being new to Wikipedia, I was shocked at the speed of deletion of my contributions and rude comment about my post. I beleive Mr. Skanson to be an important contributor to classical guitar as a composer, arranger, and recording artist and have tried to include him in this encylopedia because of that. Look at his website and see the enormous volume of work he has done, the quality of work he has done, and the fact that his recordings have national recognition. I have looked at other classical guitarist posted here in Wikipedia and if they were measured by the same standard of contribution to their field that Mr. Skanson has most of them would be deleted. I am happy to re-write the content to make it more my own and comply with your standards or get a release from Mr. Skanson but please measure his contribution to classical guitar before such speedy deleteions and judgements. It is also my hope to spread the word about this contribution to his fans for their help in fleshing out and editing this entry. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eosmann (talkcontribs)

The article should be deleted because it is a copyvio and it is written like an advertisement. No one sent you any rude comments about the article - the only comments your received about the article were automated tag messages. ScarianTalk 12:02, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Rude message was something like ... "I smell a self promoter" or something like that. I will re-write to fit your criteria but please give me time to do so. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eosmann (talkcontribs) 12:08, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

If you re-write it then that's fine. Oh, and by the by, it wasn't me who said "I smell a self promoter" and that person was actually talking about the article. But I can understand the confusion caused. ScarianTalk 15:47, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, as I said below I will try and get it re-written in my own words. Sorry to have crossed the line with copying and re-writing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eosmann (talkcontribs) 00:27, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

I have gone over and largely rewritten and cleaned up this entry. Although I am a listener to Skanson's music, I don't consider myself to have a conflict of interest.Janie1232 16:37, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Copied Text

The current article still reads like press release material because it consists of text copied from what appears to be promotional material. This is problematic in two ways. Firstly, it is a copyright violation (See WP:C). Secondly, press material is by its nature biased, and unbalanced.

For some examples, the "Bio" noted at the bottom is a snippet from here.

Dear Lord! I knew that! I originally speedied it for copyvio but it got restored. Damn it. I'm going to put it up for deletion (When I have time). ScarianTalk 18:32, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
I can only trace a part of the article to copied text. But the entire article looks like it has been cobbled together from copied text. -- Whpq 18:42, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
I agree. I will try and set up a deletion discussion tomorrow when I am more awake. ScarianTalk 20:49, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Give me some time to rewrite completely in my own words please!!! I will try and get it done by Friday. Thanks, Eosmann

I've tagged the article as being under construction through 07:00 UTC 13 October 2007. The article's fair game after that. Please remove the {{inuse}} tag when you're done. --A. B. (talk) 16:02, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Given that the material is copied text, and in violation of copyright policy, and the material needs to be written from scratch, I've removed the text and stubbed the article. -- Whpq 16:14, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

I have rewritten and edited the piece using info provided, but putting it in my own words. I do not believe any of it is copied from Skanson's website.Janie1232 16:24, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notability

Take a look at Wikipedia:Notability (music) -- to avoid article deletion, you'll need to ensure you meet the requirements of that guideline. In particular, look at the types of references needed to establish notability. --A. B. (talk) 16:02, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Found this at ALL Music Guide

      • "Darren Curtis Skanson is a brilliant classical guitarist. He approaches his craft with panache and flair. Solamente Romanz is a set of 12 beautiful tracks performed by Skanson on the Spanish guitar with Wayne Templeman on all other strings. Skanson composed seven of the selections. The others are classical mainstays, including a very cool transcription of "Für Elise." Skanson's light touch adds a unique twist to that piece, traditionally a piano solo. He enhances his flawless technique by putting his heart and soul into his performance. This is a great CD, essential for acoustic guitar lovers. ~ Jim Brenholts, All Music Guide" —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eosmann (talkcontribs) 12:17, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cleanup tag

I added a cleanup tag. This article has largely been written by Eosmann, who has a conflict of interest. He's not supposed to edit this article any further per our Conflict of Interest Guideline, but our guideline encourages editors with a conflict of interest to add stuff to article talk pages for others to work from. He's added a number of references -- can someone work them into the article and wikify it? Thanks, --15:23, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

PS Eosmann, thanks for your patience and please feel free to add more to this talk page -- just don't edit the article any further except to remove blatantly libellous, false information --A. B. (talk) 15:23, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. I have added quite a bit of notability info that I hope someone will Wikify! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eosmann (talkcontribs) 02:51, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

I find it strange that two new users have come to Wikipedia and edited only this article; User:MSUGRAD and User:Janie1232. I just find it queer. ScarianTalk 10:34, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
