[edit] Record
While Jackson fought in bare-knuckle boxing matches,[3] not much is known about his fights, as bare-knuckle fighting is illegal. Outside of bare-knuckle boxing, he has fought on the under card of a world title fight, which was won by cage fighter Mark Epstein,[8] as well as fighting in the UK Mixed Martial Arts (UKMMA) championships.[2]
Valhalla Combat was run by Darren Jackson and Phil Brown,[7] and has fought for Valhalla Combat in the ring.[2] Jackson fought on some of the early UKMMA shows[9] with the likes of Ross Pointon and Paul 'Semtex' Daley. In February, 2004, Jackson won a silver medal in the UKMMA championship, where he was defeated by Fabrice Degund.[2] Jackson has had a degree of success within the MMA, with 8 wins and 8 losses to his name.
[edit] Martial arts training
Darren Jackson holds various black belts in many martial arts, including 4th Dan freestyle street defense, 3rd Dan Taekwondo and 1st Dan Brithia Karate. He is also coaches in kick boxing.[10]
He has trained with several martial artists in the United Kingdom,[7] including Master Geoff Thompson, Master Dave Turton , Stuart Rider, Master Alan Charlton and Master Steve Morris (many of whom are well established within the mixed martial arts arena[11][12][13]). Jackson also trained with Lee Murray, a United Kingdom cage fighter, who has been accused of the £53 million Securitas raid.[14] Jackson continues to teach martial arts, and some of his fighters have won and became known in their own right:[15] for example his student Ian Bloy, who won silver in UKMMAC 7, missing out on gold to Frenchman Lauren Colombeau.[16]
