Darren Albert (born February 28, 1976 in Auburn, New South Wales) Was formerly an Australian rugby league player for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, the Newcastle Knights as well as English Super League side St Helens, where he scored 88 tries in 124 appearances from 2002 to 2005. He has also represented New South Wales in the 1999 State of Origin series and Country in City vs. Country Origin in 2001. Albert's position of choice is at Wing. He possesses outstanding pace, which has always been the main feature of his game, and in 2004 he officially won the crown of 'fastest man in Super League' at Robin Park, Wigan.
Albert has a unique running style; many believe he cited the template of an Emu. He was a very popular team member with Knights fans. Albert has always been one to attract cult status, but it must be noted that he has won much silverware in the game. This includes the 2002 Super League and 2004 Challenge Cup title with St Helens, as well as an ARL premiership with the Newcastle Knights in 1997, where Albert scored the winning try in the Grand Final, one which ranks as one of the most famous grand final tries.
Recently he has walked out on the Cronulla Sharks to move to England again.
