Darlaston Community School

Darlaston Community School is a secondary school located in Darlaston, West Midlands, England.
The school has Specialist Science College status, and since the closure of Kings Hill School during the 1980s, has been the only secondary school in the town.
It was built during the 1960s, as a secondary modern school to replace an older building in the town. It gained comprehensive status during the 1970s.
Education is provided for pupils aged 11 to 18 years, from Key Stage 3 through GCSE to A-Level. There are currently around 1,100 pupils on the roll, as well as 76 full-time teachers and a further 47 support staff including learning support assistants.
OFSTED inspections have taken place in 1997, 1999 and most recently in 2004. All of these inspections have been successful. However in January 2008 the Express and Star newspaper reported the school had been placed in special measures
Lessons start at 8.25am and finish at 2.50am to allow for extra-curricular activities which are not suitable for normal lesson time.
The school's current head teacher is Mr S.J Casey.

The school consists of dated buildings, It has its own sixth form centre, Art department and cennete. It also has its own Sports Hall, Swimming pool and Technology Block. The swimming pool has unfortunately closed due to sever damage over time. It would cost approx. £250,000 to rebuild.
