Dario Castagno

Dario Castagno born in 1967 is a former tour guide and an appreciated author.

Castagno was born in the Wimbledon district of London in 1967 and moved to Italy in 1977 when his parents decided to return to their home land.

The Castagno family purchased a house secluded in the Chianti hills of Tuscany close to Siena and Dario was very much attracted by this environment that had given birth and inspired such an incredible number of artists and geniuses.

At the age of fifteen Castagno dropped out of school and found employment in a winery and several years later started conducting off the beaten path tours through the Chianti region.

He wrote his memoirs in a book Too Much Tuscan Sun - The Confessions of a Chianti Tour Guide that was translated into various languages and that was a 2005 New York Times notable book and a sequel A Day in Tuscany-More Confessions of a Chianti Tour Guide followed by a third volume Too Much Tuscan Wine. He is the protagonist of the movie My Chianti-A Day in the Life of a Tuscan Author.

Dario is a proud member of the Noble Bruco Contrada in Siena and today lives an isolated existence in the small village of Vagliagli.
