This blocked user (block log | autoblocks | rangeblocks | unblock | contribs | deleted contribs) has asked to be unblocked, but an administrator has reviewed and declined this request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock request while you are blocked.

Request reason: "For some reason I have been blocked for editing. While Theresa may not agree with the assertion that I placed in the entry on Lugarno, there have been articles in the local paper, The Leader, stating that scientific evidence has been found indicating that Evatt Park is indeed an extinct volcano. I indicated as such in my edit comments, as well as the fact that was searching for a citation to this. Moreover, I am guessing that Theresa is not a local of Lugarno (though I am), and so therefore is not in a position to be aware of the facts in this situation. It appears as is Theresa is editing merely for the sake of editing, and controlling merely for the sake of perceived importance. I would appreciated both being unblocked, and my edit to this page not being tampered with by those who know less. Isn't that what Wikipedia is about?"

Decline reason: "You appear to be a sockpuppet of a blocked user. Using multiple accounts for editing is only allowed in specific circumstances; block evasion is not one of them. — Hersfold (t/a/c) 23:28, 7 May 2008 (UTC)"

Request reason: "I'm not quite sure the reasoning behind this refusal. I'm aware that someone else attempted to make this edit and was denied. I also made the edit and was denied. Are we now making decisions about inclusion in wikipedia based not on fact, but on whim? Is the claim that others know more about this subject than I do? If so, let them provide proof - otherwise, let my edit stand. Again I repeat - is this not the purpose of wikipedia? I do not mean to sound demanding, but it is curious that based on the whim of one uninformed person, I am blocked even while the edits that I have supplied correspond with truth."

Decline reason: "Checkuser verified sockpuppet of Startblank. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 06:11, 8 May 2008 (UTC)"

A checkuser case has been started at Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Startblank to determine if you have or have not been using multiple accounts abusively. Please await the findings of that case before any unblocking action is taken. If this case clears you, you may be unblocked. If it does not, expect the block to stand. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 01:46, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
So first you decide to create a sockpuppet, (for who knows what reason), reinsert nonsense into the article without providing evidence despite me asking you not to, then you blatantly lie about doing so. Finally you edit from an IP forcing me to protect the article from your nonsense. If I am such an uniformed person than inform me with your "proof" already and I'll be happy to insert the info myself. Note that the Leader's website makes no mention of the park so this "scientific proof" is not deemed important enough to make in onto their website, nor is it going to make it on ours because of your say so.[ http://stgeorge.yourguide.com.au/newssearch.aspx?q=HV+Evatt&date=3] Theresa Knott | The otter sank 21:33, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Wow...you really ought to get out more Theresa.

Nevertheless, as you are so confident, let me just make a few observations.

The IP address for the user startblank (and the unknown IP address edited after I was banned) both originate in Sydney. This is simple enough to find out if you know how to. I live in Brisbane now, and so unless I have been having day trips in order to edit wikipedia articles, it's unlikely that this is my sockpuppet.

Secondly, the article appeared in The Leader prior (1996) to the newspaper having an online presence, so would not appear on the site. I have emailed the leader for the edition this article was printed in, and as you are so willing to cooperate, when I hear back from them I will email you back with the edition/date for you to put in yourself.

I did not, nor have I lied about using multiple accounts. Every edit I have made has been from this one account. From my interaction with you so far, and from reading your wikipedia page, my guess is that your pride would be too wounded for you to admit that both my edits, and my claim about not being a sockpuppet, were true.

It has been both a pleasure and a delight dealing with someone who is so informed, willing to investigate the truth for herself, and admit her own mistakes.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Dangersmymiddlename (talkcontribs)

Actually, the mailing address of the company that holds the rights to the ISP means little. It's usually the address of the IT department of the company that holds it. If a checkuser is confirmed (and it was, see link above) it just means that the two usernames edited from the same IP address. Regardless of where that IP address is registered to, that both you and startblank edited from the same IP address within minutes of each other confirms that you ARE startblank. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 04:12, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
""The IP address for the user startblank originate[d] in Sydney" Whoops! How could you know that, we never told you. As for your claim. If a thing is "scientifically proven" as you say, then a reference to a science journal is needed not a local newspaper anyhow. See Wikipedia:Reliable sources. It is ridiculous to state that something is a "fact" when there is no evidence anywhere on the web! (I did a search before removing the info as a Joke for the first time) there is a quote where the man himself was referred to as a "dormant volcano" . It's possible I suppose that the leader article was talking about that and you misunderstood it but then why would you add it twice in one article? Why would you create a sockpuppet to re add it once I removed it, and why would you lie about the sockpuppet even in the face of checkuser evidence otherwise and then try to make out it is somehow my fault? Second guess my reaction all you like, but give me proper evidence and I will add it in. Theresa Knott | The otter sank 06:02, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

I've got to laugh, because this is beyond ridiculous. Why would I lie about the sockpuppet? What could I possibly gain?

The reason I know where startblank IP address originated is because I know how to trace IP addresses on the internet - as many others do. To say that we are the same because the IP address of the IT departments are the same, really means that startblank, myself and 30,000 other people who use that Internet Department are the same as well. Did we change it within minutes of each other? Undeniably. Do we use the same ISP? It appears so...but with only about 5-6 major ISP's in Australia, that's not really that amazing.

Regardless, this is a fruitless discussion. You don't believe me. I know I'm telling the truth - both on the sockpuppet and the scientifically and well-known truth of the Evatt Park volcano. And I leave you both to your important work within the wikipedia community. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.244.60.7 (talk) 06:27, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

How to trace an IP on the internet is common knowlege. However the IP adressess of wikipedia editors who have logged in are not publically disclosed. Only a very few wikipedians (those with checkuser) have access to those. There is no way you could know his IP address in order to check its location. Keep digging that hole.
