Dan B. Wesson (II.) lived from 1916 til 1978. He was the grand-grandson[4] of Daniel B. Wesson (I.)co-founder of Smith & Wesson company in which he worked from 1938 til 1963. He had a degree[5] in Material Science and Metallurgy and watched strictly for the quality of his production. A son of him was named Dan B. Wesson (III.)

The company was founded in 1968 by Dan B. Wesson

Karl R. Lewis[6] invented the main features of Dan Wesson Revolvers.

Company history has seen lots of struggle and various changes in ownership.[7]

The company name changed serveral times[8]. Due to this it is common to call it "Dan Wesson"

The Dan Wesson company has gone through several reincarnations since its inception in 1968. Interesting history, intertwined with Smith & Wesson, Browning, Colt and High Standard and revolving around a gun-design genius named Karl Lewis.
