[edit] The Borobudur Ship Expedition

In 2004 Danielle was invited by Philip Beale to participate in the international Borobudur Ship Expedition [2]. As Expedition Artist, she travelled 10,000 miles with the replica 8th century Indonesian wooden boat from Indonesia to Seychelles, Madagascar, South Africa, and Ghana, painting and drawing. The boat was of a design based on stone relief carvings found on the ancient Buddhist temple at Borobudur on the island of Java. The unique body of work she produced during this epic voyage was subsequently presented at a solo exhibition held at Thompson's Gallery [3] in central London.

[edit] Bali

In 2005, a group of five patrons sent Danielle to the island of Bali to create a series of 20 paintings. Based in Ubud, a centre of traditional arts, for 3 months, she was able to immerse herself in the local culture, people, seascape and the artistic heritage of the island all of which is celebrated in the work she created there.

[edit] Artist statement

Danielle's work demonstrates her interest in light, composition, form, and colour. Her work is modern, some say formalist, although it is strongly rooted in the realm of figurative art. In her paintings of water, she uses reflections to approach the subject of light, creating depth through numerous translucent layers of paint. She is interested in the personality of the subject, its ‘character’ and uses form and composition to bring out these qualities. She is interested in getting the viewer to really look at the subject in order to appreciate the natural world in new ways. Danielle generally works in oil on linen canvas, and oil on card.

Her artistic vision has always been influenced by the intensely rich and varied landscape that surrounded her in her formative years: the rugged, dramatic Pacific coast; the dank, purple-shaded Redwood groves; the vineyards and apple-orchards of Sonoma County. Small wonder that such an upbringing would produce an artist imbued with a deep love of the natural world and a remarkably acute eye for its observation.

[edit] Commissions

Standard Chartered Bank [4] recently commissioned Danielle to produce a portrait for its new headquarters in London, currently under construction. The painting will be part of an international travelling show before it is hung in the London office.

Eubank painted the portrait of General Sir Peter de la Billiere that hangs in the Naval and Military Club in London:

His Royal Highness Prince General Khaled bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz unveiled a portrait of General Sir Peter de la Billière KCB, KBE, DSO, MC*, DL at the Naval & Military Club, 4 St James’s Square yesterday. The Vice-President of the Club, Captain James Russell CBE, the club chairman, Mr John Briggs, General Sir Peter de la Billière and the artist, Ms Danielle Eubank, were in attendance, together with members and guests.
