Daksh (Technical Festival)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The word Daksh means “competent”. The word derives its origins from "King Daksh Prajapati”, son of Lord Brahma. Also known as the King of Himalaya, Daksh Prajapati, obtained complete knowledge of Ayurveda from his father and learned it word by word. Daksh is also said to be the father of Sati, a goddess who is well known as the first wife of Lord Shiva, the destructor. According to Hindu mythology, King Daksh Prajapati is linked with the popular story of Sati. The King performed yagya in his house, but didn’t invite Lord Shiva. Feeling insulted, Sati burnt herself in the yagya kund. Provoked by the incident, the followers of Lord Shiva killed King Daksha. However, later on Lord Shiva brought him back to life.
