[edit] Design section
I rewrote this section, and hope that no inadvertent liberties were taken:
- Daewoo used the fifth generation Opel Kadett/second generation Vauxhall Astra platform as a basis for the Daewoo Nexia. Before the Nexia/Cielo was introduced in 1995, Daewoo sold in the Australasian market the Daewoo 1.5i, which was a second generation Opel Kadett/Vauxhall Astra with only slight changes. The Cielo was a facelift of this model.
I found this slightly confusing; although the Opel Kadett article calls the 'Kadett D' (1979-84) the "fourth generation", it is listed as the "mk 5". The Nexia is transparently based on the 1984-91 model (Kadett E), specified in the article as "Mk 6"(!).
I guess this is down to some informality in how the generations are defined, but I think it makes more sense to specify the design name and the years it was produced. (Certainly, Google images search seems to confirm that this refers to the correct version).
Also, I think we can safely assume that "second generation Opel Kadett/Vauxhall Astra" meant "second generation Vauxhall Astra", since the second generation Kadett (however you specify it) is a much older car. :-/
