[edit] Summary

Image of the conceptual 'Project Daedulus' spaceship. Copyright assumed to be held by the British Interplanetary Society.

[edit] Licensing

Fair use at low resolution claimed for use in the articles Starship (to describe a real-world concept, as no other real-world starships exist to depict the subject - i.e. no spacecraft designed to reach other stars) and Project Daedalus (to show the article subject, where no free examples have been released to the public by the copyright holders).

  • No free equivalent? - See above.
  • Respect for commercial opportunities? - The use of a low-resolution image in a limited number of encyclopedic articles is not considered to infringe on the commercial exploitation of the project or original image.
  • Minimal number of uses? - Use only in the two appropriate articles as noted above.
  • Minimal extent of use? - Image is at reduced resolution, cropping would not be possible as it would destroy encyclopedic usefulness.
  • Previous publication? - Image is available at multiple sources via Google image search or similar.
  • Content? - Meets encyclopedic criteria.
  • One-article minimum? - Image is in use.
  • Significance? - Major theoretical project, illustrates the starship context where other non-fictional starships are not available for display instead. Fictional starships are in turn mostly copyrighted as well.
  • Restrictions on location? - Criteria met.
