The use of this map to illustrate the kingdoms of medieval Wales is potentially misleading. Two points:

1. Builth and Brycheiniog were early kingdoms and ceased to exist as such in the high Middle Ages. Similarly, Gwent and Morgannwg ceased to exist as kingdoms with the Norman conquest and never recovered.

2. Rhwng Gwy a Hafren was a geographical area containing a number of smaller territories, with a greater or lesser degree of "independence", such as Elfael. There is no evidence for it as a kingdom.

I think this should be made clear. Perhaps at least two maps are needed, one for the early kingdoms and territories, and another for the main kingdoms of the Age of the Princes (even that is fraught with difficulties ; changing boundaries, Norman control ebbing and flowing, etc.)? Some provenance for the boundaries shown might be good too. . . .LinguisticDemographer 17:05, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
