- Photograph of the Marble statue by Marochetti over the Memorial Well. Many of British women and children were massacred in Cawanpore later Kanpur during the Indian rebellion of 1857. The Well with Marochetti's Angel, surrounded by Henry Yule's Gothic screen, was originally situated in the Municipal Gardens covering the Bibighar Well. After the Independence of India the memorial was relocated to the Memorial Church, Kanpur. Due to the tragic events the site was known as popularly known as the Massacre Ghat among Britishers.
