Talk:Curtis Arnold
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I am not sure what kind of sources you need as I thought Wikipedia frowned on links. There are hundreds of media outlets, non- profits, academic institutions that have referenced Curtis' work and we will be glad to provide a list if desired as he is a nationally recognized consumer advocate. We have included a few external links at the bottom of the page. Does this help? Please advise.
This is not an advert and was written as a bio in a factual format. Will be glad to rewrite it if need be, but would like to have some guidance in how to do so.
Thanks for your time and consideration!
[edit] Notability
I just took a pass at removing advert style point of view language. I also moved associations into list format because all the titles of this and that was hard for me to parse and follow. I think it's more readable as a result but I welcome comments here about the reorganization. I also checked all the references so far and I'm not sure this article meets notability requirements for people. It might. He's quoted well enough. I just could not find any secondary sources talking "about him" anywhere. Much of the biographic information in the article is only in self-published sources. To have lots of primary sources and quotes might establish notability if there is enough of them - in my mind - but the lack of people talking about him might mean that notability has not yet been established sufficiently. I'm tempted to nominate this for deletion and let other editors weigh in on that issue. Any thoughts on that? - Owlmonkey (talk) 00:21, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
If you would like to see a list of the hundreds of different sources Curtis has been referenced in, you can see a partial list here:

I am not sure what exactly you mean by notability, but when the Wall Street Journal, NY Times, Washington Post, USA Today, etc. interview someone numerous times, this would appear to be notable from my perspective. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.194.8.235 (talk) 08:01, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for weighing in. It's not enough to be quoted, if that were the case every press secretary or public relations corporate officer would be consequentially notable and we know that's not the case. The measure of notability with respect to sources is if they talked about him explicitly, who he is, why he's important, why he's controversial or not controversial. If those hundreds of sources were discussing the impact he's had on the world it would be quite easy to say he's notable. But the sources I found were all quoting his view about credit cards and using his statements to make a point about credit cards. None were talking about him at all. If we just had a few good sources talking about the impact he's made on the credit card industry that would help tremendously. - Owlmonkey (talk) 16:59, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification! How much time do you need to come up with this type of info.? Certainly, the Amazon listing of his book includes endorsement quotes from other very notable personalities in personal finance, but not sure if this will help:

Also, on a related note, Curtis has been invited (and accepted) a 2nd book deal with another major publisher. Don't know if this helps, but thought I'd mention it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.243.172.85 (talk) 19:18, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
