Curtis Reginald Lewis

Curtis Reginald Lewis (July 13, 1922, Wisconsin – Dec 31, 1987, Sonoma, CA), American composer of popular songs, many of which have become jazz standards, was one of the first black composers and lyricists to set up a publishing line of his own on Broadway in the early 1940s.

Having served in the US Army during World War II (from December 2 1942, discharged as a Corporal October 28, 1945), the body of Curtis Reginald Lewis was interred on March 31, 1988, Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY (buried in Section C/A Site 503).
