Cumbres Institute

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cumbres Institute (in Spanish: Instituto Cumbres) was founded in Mexico City, Mexico by Legionary of Christ Marcial Maciel in 1954 in the neighborhood of Lomas de Chapultepec.[citation needed] Many years later, there were campuses extending all over Mexico and other Latin American countries such as Brazil, Chile, and Venezuela.{fact|date=January 2008}} The first Cumbres campus was founded in the mid-1960s in the Vista Hermosa neighborhood of Mexico City.{fact|date=January 2008}}

Cumbres Institute is not the only legionary school in Latin America. There are other schools that belong to the Legion of Christ with other names, and they are linked to the Maciel's legion. The other legion schools are the Irish Institute, Oxford Institute (not related to the university in England), CEYCA, Alpes Institute, Andes Institute, Maddox Academy, Cozumel School, and Colegio del Bosque.{fact|date=January 2008}} These schools have the same system and they count with Kindergarten, primary school, and secondary school. They are linked with Anahuac University.
