CUCEI - Centro Universitario de Ciencias Exactas e Ingenierias

The Universitary Center of Exact Sciences and Engineering CUCEI its the division of Universidad de Guadalajara in México of the fields of engineering, physical sciences, chemistry and mathematics. It has one of the biggest student population within the univeristy (about 10,000)

In its beginnings, it was the Science Insitute of the city of Guadalajara, which became part of the University of Guadalajara as the University´s Technology Institute, and to become the center of exact sciences and engieering (CUCEI) in May 2nd 1994 with the formation of the University´s Net.

The science institute of the state ofJalisco was inagurated on February 1827, and it counted with careers like medicin y surgery, jurisprudence, physical and math sciences.

When owned by the conservative party, the lawyer José Antonio Romero, closes the Institute, at the time in which he reopens the university by the decree of September 1st, 1834. The lawyer Joaquín Angulo as state gobernor, determines in 1847 the simultaneous existence of both the Institue and the University, but with a program of liberal teaching. In 1853, its decreeted that the Institute becomes part of the University.
