Though this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws, and the stricter requirements of Wikipedia's non-free content policies, because:
- Its inclusion in University of Colorado at Boulder adds significantly to the article because the photo because it illustrates the physical changes that took place there over the last fifty years.
- The contrast and resolution are sufficiently low that the image could not be used in print.
- It is only being used for educational purposes.
- There are no known free use images that would illustrate the Boulder campus from the 1950s.
