where does the rumour about a hidden carriage come from?

I think it confused with a long standing story about an abandoned "atmospeheric"/pneumatic railway in the Crystal Palace grounds.

The story of the entombed commuter train definitely refers to the tunnel between the High Level station and Upper Sydenham station. Virtually anyone who has been to school in Penge or Sydenham in the last 30 years will have heard the story. Bebofpenge 02:50, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

I grew up in Sydenham and never heard it... :S Bensonby 21:06, 21 January 2007 (UTC) (the first unsigned comment was made by me also)

I also grew up in Sydenham, and even walked through the disused tunnels as a kid, and I never heard of this either Littlst 15:10, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Crystal Palace High Level

See the discussion at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:West_End_and_Crystal_Palace_Railway The consensus is that the West End of London and Crystal Palace Railway built the Low Level station, whereas the High Level station was built for the Crystal Palace and South London Junction Railway --Lang rabbie 20:50, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Split?

Would anyone object to these stations being split? Apart from having the same name they don't seem to have anything in common. --Mr Thant (talk) 00:54, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

They both served The Crystal Palace - the rebuilt palace at Sydenham was one of the UK's most popular visitor attractions from 1854 to 1936! However, provided that the article for the station that is still open explained the former distinction between the High Level and Low Level stations then I would have no objection to a split. --Lang rabbie 23:06, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Good idea. We should also split East Grinstead for the same reason while we're at it. Ravenseft (talk) 21:42, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
Agree to spilt, but agree with Lang rabbie they do have alot in common. but for Presentation purposes would agree to the spilt. Rockybiggs (talk) 11:10, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
