Crystal was an unpowered floating platform designed to be used during Sonar Research and Development projects for the British Royal Navy.
Ordered from the builders HM Dockyard, Devonport in December 1969, it was launched in March 1971 and at the time it was in operation it was primarily utilised by the Admiralty Underwater Weapons Establishment at Portland Naval Base.

Dimensions: 413.5 ft x 56 ft x 5.5 ft
Compliment: 60 including research personnel
