Does anyone know who the inventor or first person to make croutons was? I have searched everywhere and it is impossible to find. Any information on this matter would be appreciated!
- Croutons were invented in the kitchens of the marquis de Croûton, sometime before 14 January 1691, when they first appeared in Louis XIV's soupe. --Wetman 10:36, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

- Les Ha ha! Actually such a determination is probably impossible, as dry bread has been around for as long as bread (perhaps later that day...) -Superbeecat 09:22, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Industry leader?
Yeah, if that addition to the article wasn't added by a 12-year old whose mom works for the company, it still isn't encyclopedia material (NPOV!!!!) Request immediate removal of such blasphemy. Crad0010 (talk) 20:06, 7 February 2008 (UTC) when i was a cheff i was tought that croutons where french bagget or french bread, sliced at an angle, parmasan cheese grilled , and only served with french onion soup. Sipits where diced square fried bread dropped in any soup. modern cultor has lost that nolage and confused the facts, if you agree please let me know.
