[edit] Gary Young

Can somebody please cite references for the information regarding Gary Young NOT playing on the demos on side two? This is the first I've heard of this, and I remember information to the contrary being printed in a press statement when the album was still being compiled.

Also, it should be noted that "Rob Jurkface" is a reference to Rob Jovanovic, author of the then-recent Perfect Sounds Forever biography.

Hmm, it seems like it might be a less-than-flattering poke at Jovanovic, then, seeing how it paints the Pavement boys in a lurid light. As for Gary Young, the wiki only suggests that Young didn't play drums on tracks 13-21. I think it's clear he was playing on tracks 2-7 as there's some quite different drum solo moments from Steve West's versions. It's interesting that track 8 ("Same Way of Saying") is supposed to be from the Stockton sessions with either Young or Kannenberg on drums... yet Malkmus says "Let's smoke some butts, Steve" clearly in the song. What session was it recorded in?? Is here referring to Steve West? Johnny "ThunderPeel2001" Walker (talk) 21:44, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
