[edit] What is a Cromartie?

What in god's name is a 'cromartie'? I keep seeing this word. Cromarty highschool, the Cromarty enemies from Viewtiful Joe...

As far as I know, it's just a name. Kind of a weird name for the show's villain, though. Although "Mart" as in Marty/Martin means "War" in Greek. Joylock (talk)

Crom is short for 'Cromwell' - The writer was thinking of a religious zealot Corbin —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.78.241.140 (talk) 15:49, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

I took it to imply he's chrome underneath, Chrome-artie. Fletcher (talk) 15:56, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

I think it's a tribute to Chromartie high school, as in the anime series with mecha/android overtones. Just as "Cameron" is a tribute to James Cameron. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.217.200.214 (talk) 12:51, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Different Actors

I might have missed something, but why is he played by two different actors? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.136.223.186 (talk) 05:16, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

A Terminator similar to the Series 800/850 is played by Owain Yeoman in the pilot episode. In one scene he uses the name Cromartie while he is pretending to be a substitute teacher.
The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Garret Dillahunt has been added to the cast as "a mysterious character named Cromartie".
What that means remains to be seen, although episode two airs in less than 24 hours. —MJBurrage(TC) 07:33, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
Spoiler i guess (quick close your eyes) - since all his skin was removed and only left the ecoskeleton, once he "rebuilds" himself he will probably look different. --IceHunter (talk) 14:17, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
while cromartie was initially the school teacher, (SPOILER WARNING) his skin was melted and his head detached from his body by sarah when they went bank and then to the year 2007. later he went to a plastic surgeon and adopted the face of the actor. that's why he has 2 faces/skins but its still the same endoskeleton. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gcancelado (talk • contribs) 23:30, June 10, 2008

[edit] Series and Model name

According to The Arnold Fans Cameron Phillips is the Series 888 Terminator, not Cromartie; although Get Terminated suggests that Cromartie is the Series 888.
I would guess that the latter site is what various fan sites have based this detail on. Pretty thin evidence either way to me. —MJBurrage(TC) 08:07, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

They both had virtually identical HUDs in their "Terminator Vision" mode, with Cromartie in traditional red and Cameron in blue. --64.123.119.253 (talk) 05:12, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
As shown in the episode Queen's Gambit, there's another T-888, the one that killed the Resistance fighters and that shot Derek Reese and that Cameron later deactivated. Derek and Sarah both call it a T-888 during the episode. I'd suggest that both Cromartie and that Terminator are Series 888 models. Carter (the Coltan procurement Terminator) may or may not be one—it is, according to Cameron, too short, and its endoskeletal points don't match Cromartie's.—Observ (talk) 17:13, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Reference to anime?

Is his name any reference to Cromartie High School? --64.123.119.253 (talk) 05:13, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

I assumed it was a play on the Terminator's chrome endoskelaton. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.152.245.18 (talk) 18:03, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] endoskeleton

i haven't seen anyone mention this anywhere. Am i the only one that noticed that the main chassis (torso) on cromartie's endoskeleton is vastly different then other terminators. The head and limbs seem the same, though, —Preceding unsigned comment added by The Great Morgil (talkcontribs) 03:32, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

I agree this Terminator looks a little different then the 800 ir the 850. The torso looks "beefier", it would make sense that the 888 wouldnt look much different from the 850, since there wasnt that much change between the 800 and 850 besides the removeable powercell. I was hoping to put up a good picture of the endoskeleton on the page but I dont have one. Tsurettejr (talk) 12:41, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Model number

You know it's kind of common knowledge among terminator fans that Cromartie is a T-888... might want to put that in here somewhere. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.143.86.178 (talk) 22:58, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

  • You need a verifiable source to add something to the article, and from what I've seen, what information there is about his model number is a little contradictory. 24.252.87.219 (talk) 00:49, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
  • The show has not said anything about his model number, only the other Terminator that killed the resistance fighters was named by John's Uncle, as a 888. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.208.152.156 (talk) 23:25, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Static Identity of Cromartie?

Does anyone have an idea of the last time one of the characters referred to him as Cromartie? In other words, does the Cromartie identity seem fixed or should this page perhaps be renamed to something more generic? I agree it's convenient to write "Cromartie" rather than something like "the enemy Terminator"; I'm just wondering how in touch this is with the show. -Fritter —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.152.245.18 (talk) 18:14, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

  • Well, the official plot summaries, and the credits, still refer to him as Cromartie even after he assumed the identity of that actor guy. So Cromartie is at least a semi-official name for the character. Joylock (talk) 22:38, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
This is a settled issue as far as I'm concerned, but in the finale, Cameron's HUD does indeed identify "Agent Kester" as Cromartie, so that is definitely his name.Fritter (talk) 17:17, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
