The Crown Point Police Department is the local law enforcement agency for the city of Crown Point, Indiana. The Current Chief is Pete Land.

Little information regarding the department's history is available in the public domain. However, Crown Point Indiana is infamous for when the famous gangster, John Dillinger escaped from the former Lake County Jail, in Downtown Crown Point, Indiana.
[edit] Patrol Division
The Patrol Division has three basic functions: Enforce municipal ordinances and state code, Patrol the city to ensure the safety of its citizens, and initiate cases regarding offenses committed against a person and/or his or her property.
The Patrol Division currently consists of 28 officers and 1 commander.
[edit] Motorcycle Division
The Motorcycle Division was initially started by Chief Michael Valsi in 1994. At that time, Chief Valsi assigned Sgt Keith Hefner and Officer Dave Benson to the program. Hefner and Benson had to pass an intense week long school for the police motorcycle operations at the Michigan State Police Academy in Lansing, Michigan. This school is required for Motor Officers of the CPPD. The common motorcycle that the department utilizes are Harley Davidson Electra Glides.
