Crobar

Crobar is a nightclub chain that is currently located in Chicago, Lebanon and Buenos Aires. Former locations in New York City and Miami were recently closed and bought out by new owners.

The first Crobar opened in Chicago in 1992. The Miami venue opened a decade later, followed by New York in 2003 and Buenos Aires in 2005.

Crobar in Miami Beach closed on April 23, 2006 with a performance by noted house music DJ Erick Morillo. The venue shuttered for renovations and opened on Super Bowl weekend, February 2-4th, 2007. it was acquired by Louis Puig, the owner/operator of rival club, Space, after a failed buyout by the Opium Group, owners of successful clubs Mansion, Privé and Opium Garden. The influx of cash provided the financing for this renovation. The club reverted to its former name of Cameo, which has been the name of the venue since the 1930s when the building was constructed.

The cameo theater and crobar venues worldwide are designed by award winning architectural design firm Bigtime Design Studios. Bigtime Design won a 2008 Club world Award for best renovation. Bigtime Design is based out of Miami, FL They are currently doing the architectural rebranding of Gatecrasher in Birmingham England.

The original Crobar is known for playing Trance and House, headlined by resident DJ Mixin Marc. It attracts notorious DJ's such as Paul Oakenfold, Roger Sanchez, Sander Kleinenberg, Erik Morillo, Fedde le Grand, Starkillers, Richard Dinsale, Bad Boy Bill, Robbie Rivera and Deadmau5.

Crobar, along with Club Sol were temporarily closed on January 5, 2007 for numerous complaints, violations, and a double shooting in July of 2006. On February 2, 2007, Crobar-New York was closed permanently. Former resident DJs included DJ Boris, Exacta, Jason Jollins, Serge Devant and Sasha, among other top DJs in New York City. The location reopened as Studio Mezmor on February 17 (two weeks later), but then in turn closed that June.

Crobar Lebanon opened April 3, 2008 with resident DJ Ali Ajami on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The Kayruz Brothers were behind opening the Club in Lebanon, Crobar President for Lebanon stated that Crobar will be soon opening in other areas of the Middle East.
