Cristian Darío Álvarez (born November 13, 1985, in General Lagos, Santa Fe) is an Argentine football goalkeeper currently playing for Espanyol in Spain.
Álvarez came through the youth system at Rosario Central to make his debut in a Copa Libertadores game against Paraguayan side Cerro Porteño on February 23, 2006. Central lost the game 2-0 but Álvarez has quicky gone on to establish himself as their number one choice keeper.
In 2008 Álvarez agreed to join Spanish side RCD Espanyol for the 2008-2009 season. He stated that he is determined to fight for a place in the Espanyol first team.[1]
