Crested Caracara

Crested Caracara is a name for certain falconid birds of prey. These were formerly believed to make up a single species Polyborus plancus or Caracara plancus, but are now treated as two living and one recently-extinct species. They can also be found in Costa Rica.
- Northern Caracara, Caracara cheriway - north of Amazonia and southern Peru
- Southern Caracara, Caracara plancus - south of Amazonia and southern Peru
- Guadalupe Caracara, Caracara lutosa - Formerly Guadalupe Island off Baja California Peninsula, Mexico; extinct (1900 or 1903)
