Crana

Crana is a village and former municipality in the district of Locarno in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland.
It was first recorded in year 1228 as Grana.
The municipality had 134 inhabitants in 1795, which decreased to 138 in 1801. It then increased, to 138 in 1808, 182 in 1836, 185 in 1850 and 303 in 1900. It then started to decrease, reaching 134 in 1950, 87 in 1960 and 49 in 1990.
In 1995 the municipality was merged with the other, neighboring municipalities Comologno and Russo to form a new and larger municipality Onsernone.
