[edit] AfD nomination of Oildex

I have nominated Oildex, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Oildex. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. nneonneotalk 19:11, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Oildex-hi.gif

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Oildex-hi.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Polly (Parrot) 19:25, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Image:Oildex T.gif

A tag has been placed on Image:Oildex T.gif requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Oildex-white-CMYK.JPG

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Oildex-white-CMYK.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Polly (Parrot) 19:26, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Oildex

There are two major things wrong with the article. First, it appears to be advertising, and would need to be fundamentally rewritten to fit with the Wikipedia guidelines. Second, you appear to have a conflict of interest with the page, as you stated on your user page that you are affiliated with the parent company. I strongly suggest that you read Wikipedia notability guidelines for companies in order to repair these problems in the article. nneonneotalk 19:29, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Re: Oildex

Thank you for the suggestions. I have marked the article as 'underconstruction' and I will begin working out these issues.Courtney L Brewer 19:33, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Re: Re: Oildex

Oildex article has been condensed and rewritten to indicate information regarding Industry standards, securities, and assurances within the automated accounts payable sector. Please remove AfD tag in response. Thank you! Courtney L Brewer 18:02, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Oildex-hi.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Oildex-hi.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. NotifyBot (talk) 15:29, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Your e-mail

Thanks for sending me an e-mail, though I generally prefer to talk via talk pages, since it's more open that way.

Regarding how AfDs are closed: after five days, if consensus is reached, appropriate action may be taken. For example, if it's clear from the debate that the article should be kept (e.g. in this debate), then the AfD tag is removed and the article continues as normal. There are several possible outcomes, so see WP:AFD for a full list (first paragraph). The Oildex article has not reached consensus, so, as of now, it isn't going to be deleted. However, it may be relisted to generate more discussion, which means that the five-day deadline is effectively extended until consensus can be reached, or the nomination is withdrawn (you can see on the main AfD page a number of open discussions from a week or more ago). I do not feel, however, that the company is sufficiently notable. It may have been rewritten to be more neutral and less like an advertisement, but articles about companies must assert notability through reliable sources. Otherwise, they do not meet criteria for inclusion into Wikipedia. nneonneo talk 15:30, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Re: Your e-mail

Thank you for this information. I've now included a section on notable acheivements & partnerships with the intent to outline the company's notability. Courtney L Brewer 18:25, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

OK. I would also (strongly) suggest taking a look at other articles on companies to get a feel for what the article should look like. By the way, notable events should include more than just awards (especially because listing off awards doesn't immediately establish notability unless the awards themselves are highly notable, and because it looks like advertising).
A few closing comments: first, I'd appreciate it if you used a wiki-linked signature (i.e. turn off Raw Signature), because it's usually expected that your signature carries links to both the userpage and talkpage. Second, it's usual to reply to messages in the section itself, rather than making a new section for each reply. One section should represent a single thread of conversation. Thanks! nneonneo talk 22:12, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem

Hi CourtneyLBrewer!
We thank you for uploading Image:TranszapSmallWhiteBG.gif, but there is a problem. Your image is currently missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Unless you can help by adding a copyright tag, it may be deleted by an Administrator. If you know this information, then we urge you to add a copyright tag to the image description page. We apologize for this, but all images must confirm to policy on Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks so much for your cooperation.
