I've never heard of these before. Are they still in any current use, or purely historical? Ambivalenthysteria 07:47, 3 Mar 2004 (UTC)

They still legally exist. If you look on any property title, you will see that the property is in the parish of X in the county of Y in the state of Victoria. So far as I know they have no other function. Adam 08:05, 3 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Ah, I see. Maybe that could go in the article? Ambivalenthysteria 11:46, 3 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Are you sure it is 2914? Land titles in victoria says 2004 --Astrokey44 12:08, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

(I added that it seems.) Perhaps there’s 910 townships? IIRC the figure came from one of a vic.gov.au site, but I can’t find it any more... This is, of course, why every fact you add should come complete with a citation/link... (Also, your link is a local council website. Just pointing it out, because the linktext you provide makes it sound like it’s a state government one.) —Felix the Cassowary 11:13, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
ah, 2914 probably more likely then. It says it at landata.vic.gov.au. Also, where does the 1890 date come from? There arent any new counties added after the current 1877 map - see the same counties on this 1897 map - perhaps 1890 was the date of the last change/adjustment to the existing counties? --Astrokey44 00:56, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
I was wondering the exact same thing—you’re going to have to ask User:Adam Carr about that one. It’s been there since the article was first created. (I have assumed also that the boundaries were probably changed at some point between the two dates.) —Felix the Cassowary 08:33, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
