Field sports may also refer to field events in athetics, such as the shot put or the high jump.

A country sport or field sport is one of the traditional rural blood sports of hunting with various types of hound most commonly for fox, hare and red deer), shooting (particularly of game birds, such as grouse, partridge, pheasant and woodcock) and non game birds such as duck and snipe, fishing (particularly fly fishing) most commonly for brown trout and salmon.
