Counties - whilst it may be technically true that the CW is in the ceremonial counties of Gloucester & Somerset, these are not footpath authorities (these days)! - have expanded to mention South Glos & BaNES who are the other highway LAs concerned.Linuxlad

Now that the official designation of the CW is getting near (May 24th 2007 I hear), people are getting interested in its history. I've created a 'history' section and posted a piece from Tony Drake's intro to the old Mark Richards Guide of circa 1973. This needs a prune in due course.
