[edit] Structure

Scientists believe that if one could see the structure of the larger universe it would resemble a spider web with the "joints" made up of supercluster's and extending arms made up of smaller Galaxy groups and clusters, with massive space voids in between all the workings.[1]

[edit] Mapping Out

Scientists believe that the development of powerful new telescopes and computers will soon unravel the cosmic web in the coming years.[2]

[edit] Discovery

Dutch scientists of the SRON have discovered parts of the cosmic web with a new telescope Press publication:

"XMM-Newton discovers part of the missing matter in the Universe

A team of astronomers from SRON discovered part of the missing matter in the Universe using the European X-ray satellite XMM-Newton. The existence of the tenuous hot gas, which is believed to be located within the connecting threads of the enormous cosmic web, was predicted by theoreticians about 10 years ago. "
