These headings are, however, plastic and in a state of flux and although we welcome suggestions or improvements, we would appreciate discussion before any major changes to the layout yourself. Be bold - if you know something about Cornwall then put it in! We value your contributions and don't be afraid if your spelling isn't great as there are plenty of spelling and grammar experts on clean-up duty! We are aware that the wording on Cornish entries can sometimes be a contentious topic, especially those concerning geography. You don't have to agree with everything but there is no excuse for rudeness and these things are best solved through consensus building and compromise. For more information see WP:CornwallGuideline. These pages are not platforms for political discussion. Issues relating to Cornish politics should be restricted to those pages that directly deal with these issues (such as Constitutional status of Cornwall, Cornish self-government movement, etc) and should not overflow into other articles. Most of all have fun editing - that's the reason we all do this, right?!

Removed above POV statement from article - as far as I know there has been no opion poll on the subject, but it does get widespread support from Cornish people. The CCGA committee includes several prominent Cornish sportspersons. 195.92.168.168 18:42, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

So if there has been no opinion poll, and there has not, and the association has no mandate from anyone at all to act on Cornwall's behalf, that which I posted is not a point of veiw, but a fact.

Your statement that it does get widespread support from Cornish people is unsupported by any evidence, making it a POV statement.

Even if, as you say, "The CCGA committee includes several prominent Cornish sportspersons", this does not constitue a mandate to act on Cornwall's behalf, nor does it indicate that it has any official standing within the sports community, sporting associations, or any other body.

Until you bring evidence to the contrary, my statement above is accurate and should remain.

The statement is clearly a POV issue because 'mandates' are not a relevant point of consideration where a pressure group is concerned, the phrase pressure group should clearly indicate a body that is set up to influence opinion not represent it!!- The association website seems to be debating Cornish natinal identity alot and fighting that 'fight' not claiming that they represent anyone. I am removing all POV from　this article for and against. The comment about it being set up by a musician is also entirely irrelevant, also please sign all posts in the talk pages, but refrain from doing so in the articles Reedgunner 11:11, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

The CCGA has made an application to the Commonwealth Games Federation on Corwall's behalf, with no consultation or mandate. This takes it beyond the realms of a "pressure group" into one that has taken an action that could affect all of Cornwalls athletes and sports persons. I think my point should stand.

Why does the FACT that the CCGA is not in any way an official body, has no mandate from either the people of Cornwall, nor any sporting body within Cornwall or the UK, keep getting removed?

This is NOT POV , but a relevant fact.

What is trying to be done here? Does the person editing the page have something to hide?

It would be disingenuous for people coming here to believe that the CCGA is anything more than a Cornish nationalist endeavour.

If the FACT that the CCGA has NO official standing, has NO support from any sporting body, NO mandate from the people of Cornwall, and is acting out of pure self interest, gets removed again a complaint to Wiki will be issued.

This should be removed as "Cornwall" has never applied for entry into the Commonwealth games. An unelected pressure group, with no mandate from anyone other than themselves, applied and was, naturally rejected.

[edit] Cornish sportspeople

If Cornwall did have a Commonwealth Team in 2006, then it would have had some success. These athletes are either all originally born in Cornwall, or live there now:

• Nick Nieland- Men's Javelin- Gold Medal.
• Pinky Le Grelle- Women's Trap Shooting- Silver Medal.
• Jemma Simpson- Women's 800m- 6th Place.

This is based on these people choosing to represent Cornwall, rather than compete, as they have up to now, for England. has their opinion on this, and permission to use their names in this quasi-promotional way, been canvassed?

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use.
