Talk:Core language
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This definition is confusing me. "A core language is a pure programming language"...er, as opposed to an impure programming language? Can someone give me an example of a programming language which is NOT a core language, and explain why it isn't?

- He or she is talking about "the core of the programming language." For example, there are sets of programming libraries (however useful they are) that people write, which have been written much later than when the original programming language was created. The mentioned libraries are then not a part of the "core language," but instead are more like additional tools that someone has created.

- There may also be standards, such as "ANSI-C" which help define the language.
