Cory Rasmus

Cory Taylor Rasmus (born November 6, 1987 in Columbus, Georgia) is a right handed pitcher in the Atlanta Braves organization. He was the second selection in the first round in the 2006 Atlanta Braves Draft. He is listed by the Braves as standing 6'1" and weighing 220 pounds.

Rasmus played as catcher for Phenix City National Little League during the 1999 Little League World Series. He finished the World Series batting .400.

Rasmus attended Russell County High School in Seale, Alabama. He was selected to play in the 2005 Aflac All American Baseball Classic. [1]

Rasmus was drafted by the by the Braves with the 38th pick in the first round. He was assigned to the Gulf Coast Braves (Rookie League) upon signing with the Braves on June 8, 2006. He missed the 2007 season due to shoulder surgery. He is expected to be ready for the 2008 season.[2] As of March 31, 2008, he has not been assigned to a team for the 2008 season and will likely play in a short season league this summer.[3]
