Coronation sejm
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Coronation sejm as one of three kinds of special sejm in pre-partition Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. It took place before the coronation of the king-elect. It commonly took place in Kraków (with the exception being the Warsaw coronation sejm of Stanisław August Poniatowski. During that sejm, the king-elect finished various ceremonies and formalities, such as swearing an oath to uphold pacta conventa and Henrician Articles.
The coronation would take place in the Wawel Cathedral.
The other two kinds of special sejm--likewise concerned with the filling of the throne--were the "convocation sejm" and the "election sejm."
