Cornwallis Stakes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Cornwallis Stakes is a Group 3 flat horse race in the United Kingdom for two-year-old thoroughbreds. It is run over a distance of 5 furlongs (1,006 metres) at Ascot Racecourse in October.
In 2000 the race was due to be run at Ascot but was called off following a security alert. It was re-scheduled and run the following week at Newbury over a distance of 5 furlongs and 34 yards (1,037 metres). When Ascot was closed for re-development, both the 2004 and 2005 races were due to be run at Salisbury. But the 2004 race was abandoned because of heavy rain and transferred to Newmarket one week later.
