The Academy was established in 2000. It has an active partnership with WHEFC is located at the Willoughby Hills Evangelical Friends Church campus in Willoughby Hills. Cornerstone's first graduating class (2001) primarily consisted of students from Willo-Hill Christian which became elementary only the year Cornerstone opened. From fall 2000-spring 2006 Cornerstone Christian Academy was strictly a Middle and Upper School (grades 7-12). With the completion of the 7.5 million dollar expanded facility which now included a state-of-the-art gymnasium, science lab, art studio, and beautiful new classrooms, Cornerstone expanded its portfolio with the addition of an elementary program (K-5) and the addition of 6th grade to its middle school program. Each school year enrollment at Cornerstone continues to increase.

Cornerstone is known for its Biblical-based, vigorous curriculum and its outstanding athletics and extracurriculars. Cornerstone, unlike other private schools, has a uniform with a wide selection of options. On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, Cornerstone begins with a School Assembly which includes announcements and devotions. Cornerstone also has a hot lunch program and bus transportation for the Willoughby-Eastlake area.
